Congressional hearing on USDA's "Pigford" discrimination case

In the case of Black farmers who are seeking compensation for past discrimination acknowledged by USDA, the House Judiciary Committee held hearings last week in Cincinatti. Here is the update from the Four Seasons weblog:

As many as 66,000 farm workers were inadequately informed about the settlements from the successful Pigford v. Glickman civil rights case concerning racially related loan denial by the USDA. There was a Congressional hearing on Monday with testimony from Vernon Park of the USDA Civil Rights Office and Dr. John Boyd, president of the National Black Farmers Association (NBFA), among other advocates.
