The
Washington Post today followed up on the
animal mistreatment story last week. Hallmark company officials had previously claimed this was an isolated incident, and that there had been no previous examples of such abuse under current management. It turns out, however, that the company "was cited in 2005 for several animal welfare violations, including 'too much electric prodding.'"
The most ridiculous sentence in today's article comes from the Hallmark official who had the unpleasant job of reconciling the company's earlier untrue claims with the facts:
"We certainly wouldn't have failed to disclose that if we knew it was in the public record," he said.
