Kanoko Sakurakoji

Kanoko Sakurakoji is a Japanese manga artist (mangaka), known for her supernatural romance series Black Bird. Black Bird manga won the 54th Shogakukan Manga Award, which has been awarded annually for serialized manga since 1955. Black Bird premiered in the January 2007 issue Betsucomi magazine. Since then, the manga has become increasingly popular. The sixth volume of Black Bird was ranked 12th on the Japanese Comic Rankings between October 28 and November 3, 2008. The seventh volume was ranked 4th and the eighth volume was ranked 3rd.

Kanoko Sakurakoji was born on August 1, in downtown Tokyo. Her hobbies include reading, watching plays, traveling and shopping. Her debut title, Raibu ga Hanetara, ran in Bessatsu Shojo Comic (currently called Betsucomi) in 2000, and won the 45th New Manga Artist Award of Shogakukan in the same year. Her 2004 Bestucomi title Backstage Prince was serialized in VIZ Media's Shojo Beat magazine.
